Editorial Independence Policy

1Our independence statement

Clear Vet is a UK veterinary price comparison website. Our purpose is to give every pet owner honest, unbiased information about vet prices, so they can make confident, informed decisions about their pet's care.

To do that, our comparisons must be trustworthy. This policy sets out exactly what independence means for us, how we protect it, and how we are transparent about the commercial relationships that fund the service.

2What we will never do

Regardless of any commercial relationship, Clear Vet commits that it will never:

• Allow a vet practice to pay, in any form, to improve its ranking, listing prominence, or price display on Clear Vet.
• Remove, hide, or alter a practice's prices at the request of that practice or any affiliated party.
• Accept payment from any corporate veterinary group in exchange for editorial coverage or favourable treatment.
• Publish comparison content, guides, or articles that have been reviewed or approved by a commercial partner before publication.
• Create a financial relationship with any party whose interests would directly conflict with our role as a neutral price comparison service.

3How we fund the service and how we disclose it

Clear Vet is a free service for pet owners. To sustain the service, we earn revenue through affiliate referral fees from third-party partners. Currently, we do not yet have any partners. We will work with partners in online pharmacy and pet nutrition. We intend to add pet insurance comparison in due course, subject to obtaining the required FCA regulatory permissions.

We are transparent about this. Our current commercial principles are:

• Affiliate partners are selected independently. A partner cannot pay to be included in a comparison; they must meet our quality and relevance criteria first.
• Affiliate fees do not influence comparison rankings or product ordering. Where relevant, comparisons are ordered by price, rating, or relevance, not by who pays us the most.
• Every page where we earn an affiliate fee carries a clear, prominent disclosure statement.
• If we introduce pet insurance comparison in future, we will update this policy and publish an Insurance Affiliate Disclosure Statement. We will not publish insurance comparisons until appropriate FCA permissions are in place.

4How we source and present price data

Accurate, current price data is the foundation of a trustworthy comparison service. Our data principles are:

• Price data is collected from CMA-mandated published price lists on practice websites and from publicly available RCVS data. We do not accept practice-supplied pricing data that we cannot independently verify.
• Practices cannot pay to alter, remove, or improve the presentation of their prices on Clear Vet.
• We update price data regularly and display a last updated date on every listing. We acknowledge prices may change between updates and recommend confirming with the practice before booking.
• Where price data is unavailable for a practice, we display this clearly rather than estimating or leaving the field blank without explanation.

6Regulatory alignment

Clear Vet is actively engaging with the RCVS and CMA to participate in the third-party price comparison framework established by the CMA's March 2026 Final Report on the veterinary sector. We are committed to meeting, and where possible exceeding, the standards required for third-party PCW approval.

This Editorial Independence Policy will be updated to reflect any additional requirements arising from the CMA Order, expected September 2026, or RCVS approval conditions.

7Policy review and contact

This policy will be reviewed at least annually and updated whenever our commercial model or regulatory context changes materially. The current version and version history will always be available at clearvet.co.uk/editorial-independence.
