We discovered a lump on our cat and went to PDSA. The consultation fee was high, especially considering some vets don’t charge one. It then took 5 days to get the test results back. We missed their call, and although they said they would call again the next day, they refused to give us the results when we went in person, even though they said it was urgent.
By this time, our cat’s health was deteriorating rapidly — he had become incontinent and we had already asked if he could be checked again, but were told we had to wait for the results. Out of worry, we took him to another vet, who quickly tested him and confirmed within hours that he had cancer throughout his body and needed to be put to sleep before his suffering became unbearable.
From our experience, I’d say PDSA may be fine for accidents or trauma (like a broken leg), but for serious pet illnesses, I would not recommend them.
