I’m extremely disappointed with the decline in care and service at Goddard Veterinary Practice in Mile End over the past two years. There has been a constant turnover of vets and support staff, and unfortunately, some of the temporary or covering staff have not been friendly or empathetic.
My dog has been dealing with ongoing health issues over the past 4–5 months, and during this time, the practice has repeatedly failed us. Communication has been poor, medication dispensing has been unreliable, and there has been a concerning lack of attention to detail and consistency in diagnosis and treatment planning. I’ve had to speak with 4–5 different vets about the same condition, each with differing approaches, making it impossible to establish any continuity of care. It’s clear they’re struggling to retain capable veterinary professionals, and unfortunately, the quality of service reflects that instability.
A particularly troubling example occurred just before a recent holiday. I had to chase the practice for an entire week to get my dog’s medication sorted, and even then, there was a four-day gap in his treatment due to vet changes and communication breakdowns. Prescriptions were either not submitted, submitted incorrectly, or ordered in the wrong quantities—on two separate occasions. Only on the final day before my trip did a newly arrived vet, Lydia, step in and take full responsibility to ensure the meds were ordered. Her professionalism was appreciated, though I still received fewer tablets than needed.
I’m now seriously considering moving to another veterinary practice. Unless significant improvements are made, I cannot continue to entrust my pet’s health to a clinic that is so disorganised and inconsistent. Thankfully, there are now other options appearing in the area.
