Visited the surgery today with Chip (one of my cleft lip spaniels) with a hook claw that had cut into, and ulcerated a pad in his paw. Chip is the strongest little dog I have ever known, and has been banned from all the local groomers as he barrel rolls and fights whenever ANYONE goes near his paws. I wish I’d remembered their names (to thank them properly) as the two girls really went the extra mile, and were amazing in quickly and efficiently clipping all the nails on all 4 paws, while Chip fought to the best of his ability! Chip is the happiest little dog, and one of the girls remembered me bringing him (and his cleft lip half brother Fluke) when he was only a day or two old. Cleft lip pups can’t suckle, so have to be hand reared, and there are vets out there who out and out refuse to have anything to do with cleft lip pups, but these guys were so helpful and supportive and Chip and Fluke enjoy getting out to The Lake District, Cornwall, and anywhere our Motorhome will take us! To think that the breeders advised to euthanise them both !
Well done guys, Top marks!!!
